Lincoln recalls

Ford Motor Company is issuing a massive recall involving the Ford Fusion and the Lincoln MKZ.In total, Ford will be issuing a recall on 680,000 Fusion and MKZ cars. The recall is to fix the a seat belt issue on the luxury sedans. The model years that are affected fall into the range of 2013-2016. The recall campaign seeks to fix seat belts that do not operate properly in high temperatures. 602,000 of those being recalled were sold in the US market.  Ford has reported that they are aware of two accidents and two injuries associated with the issue.

Additionally, Ford is recalling a slew of vehicles including 2006-2011 MKZ and 2007-2010 MKX. This recalled is because of the passenger side airbag.  An inflator rupture may result in metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants resulting in serious injury or death. These vehicles are equipped with certain air bag inflators assembled as part of the passenger frontal air bag modules, and used as original equipment or replacement equipment. In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the front air bags, these inflators may rupture due to propellant degradation occurring after long-term exposure to absolute humidity and temperature cycling.

Ford will notify owners by mail of their recall, ford dealers will replace the affected parts at no cost to the owner. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. You can schedule your recall service through Gurley Leep Southside Ford-Lincoln. And while you’re there check out our inventory.

Flight of the Navigator- The Navigator Concept

At the 2016 Los Angeles International Auto Show, over to the Lincoln Motor Company booth and we saw a familiar face, the 2016 Lincoln Navigator. This Navigator is the same one that was first seen at the New York Auto Show.

This is definitely an interesting concept that Lincoln has put forward. It’s striking look was well received at the NY Auto Show and poll on the internet revealed that a majority of those polled loved this concept. And it is still a show-stealer in LA as well.

This concept of the 2016 Lincoln Navigator has some really unique features that make the masses love this concept. First off, this Navigator is equipped with vertical lift, gull-wing doors. The gull-wing doors are always a novel idea when it comes to concept vehicles, everyone loves them but very rarely do they make a final vehicle. The other really cool feature the automatic steps that lower out from under the vehicle when the doors are opened. Lincoln and Ford have used the automatic steps on such vehicles as the Navigator and F-150 trucks. The difference is that this concept has multiple steps that lower out of the vehicle.

Even outside of its novel features, there’s plenty that the Lincoln Navigator concept gets right. The SUV’s stunning “Storm Blue” paint hue is still soothing to look at,

While this concept Navigator may never make it to dealership floors, you can check out the Navigators that we do have in our inventory and contact us now to try out your own Navigator now.

Lincoln tops ACSI Brand Satisfaction Survey

The American Customer Satisfaction Index’s (ACSI) Automobile Report 2016 recently released their report of industry-wide customer satisfaction for automobiles. And this year, Lincoln has earned top honors. The ASCI “is a national economic indicator of customer evaluations of the quality of products and services available to household consumers in the United States.”

Brands are judged in the ASCI on a max satisfaction score of 100. Lincoln bested all competition with a score of 87%. Their score this year is 4 points higher than last year. Lincoln stood atop the nearest competition by a close margin; Honda (86), BMW (85), Toyota (85) and GMC (84) and crushed the industry average of 82.

The ASCI judge brands based on a variety of factors, including performance, dependability, safety, exterior design and gas mileage.  Luxury brands scored higher points for factors such as comfort, quality and technology. But mass market brand scored even points on factors such as performance, dependability, exterior, safety and website design.

The New MKX is one sweet drive

Typically when you think of luxury SUV, you think of the Audi Q5, Lexus RS or Cadillac SRX. But Lincoln has been working hard over the last few years to change that. And now with the redesigned 2016 MKX, Lincoln is claiming its seat at the table. And that has been the brand’s strategic challenge over the last decade: Not enough younger buyers had that nameplate in their heads when they were splashing out lux bucks for SUVs.

The redesigned 2016 MKX will go a long way to getting Lincoln a seat at the table in this segment, and that’s where a car makes a first impression on you, the driver’s cockpit. MKX “Black Label” model that wraps you in high-quality leather and walnut in the cockpit and includes a 22-way powered seat that adds $1,500 to the base price of $47,650. Yes a 22-way seat. There’s also a “luxury package,” which adds $4,400 and includes a Revel audio system with 19 speakers. That’s a lot of speakers.

Under the hood sits Ford’s 2.7-liter V-6 EcoBoost power plant (a $2,000 option), which generates a sprightly 335 horsepower. That’s 30 h.p. more than the standard 3.7-liter power plant, thanks to twin turbos. On the safety front, Lincoln offers a little gizmo, an optional front-facing camera that hides behind the emblem until you engage the camera. It’s part of a parking assist package that includes adaptive cruise control, active braking, and a lane-keeping system—all of which has become pretty standard in this category.

Like its competitors, the MKX lets you tune the ride to your driving style: sport, comfort, or economy. On the all-wheel-drive models—and again, you’ll pay up—there’s also a continuously controlled damping system to limit vibrations.

Still, you’ve got to credit Lincoln for stepping up its game. The MKX is truly plush and comfy and it’s going to give anyone shopping for a luxury SUV another good choice to think about.

Lincoln Opens 'Experience Center'

Ford Motor Company’s Lincoln brand has made its “largest investment ever” in personalized experiences and service for consumers, known as “The Lincoln Way.” The Lincoln Experience Center, which allows guests to learn more about the Lincoln brand at their own pace, has opened on Fashion Island in Newport Beach, California. A second location will be announced later this year, according to Lincoln.

A new suite of services, including valet pickup and delivery, begins this fall with the arrival of the all-new Lincoln Continental. Future initiatives include a dedicated app to provide even easier access to existing services and a suite of new services like parking solutions and new approaches for leasing.

Guests can explore the brand, discover the design inspiration behind the different Lincoln cars and SUVs, customize their perfect vehicle and take it for a test drive, around the block or for the weekend. They can also take advantage of the Lincoln connectivity lounge and partake of a complimentary beverage. Should they be interested in purchasing a vehicle, a host at the Lincoln Experience Center will connect them with the dealer.

"The Lincoln Experience Center in Newport Beach opened in early July and the response has been overwhelmingly positive," said a Lincoln spokesperson. "So far, 50,000 people have walked by the Lincoln Experience Center and about 4,500 have spent time inside the space. The first three scheduled events to take place at the Lincoln Experience Center are already fully booked."

The Lincoln Miles leasing service — which allows clients to monitor miles via a mobile app and web site and earn rewards based on unused miles at the end of the lease — is currently being piloted, according to the company.

Lincoln steps up with the pick-up

Everyone has to take their car in for service from time to time. Lincoln, to distinguish themselves from other luxury brands, is making that process now easier.  By picking up your car and giving you a loaner vehicle.

Starting with their 2017 line of vehicles, Lincoln with come to you with a vehicle of equal or greater value, take yours in for service and then return it when its finished. This will be available on all the Lincoln models, from the MKC Crossover to the Navigator and everywhere in between, including next year’s brand new Lincoln Continental.

All New 2017 Lincoln Continental

Lincoln’s service puts it in “uncharted territory,” which is a good step for a brand that fell off the radar of many luxury-car buyers. Yet it remains in eighth place among luxury marques, behind European and Japanese rivals as well as General Motors’ Cadillac. In a time when there are too many brands and everyone is copying each other, this Lincoln’s way of thinking outside of the box and standing out when it come to their customer service.

2017 Lincoln MKZ

“It’s the single most important item we’ve done in some time. For customers today, one of the things that they value the most is their time. This is a process by which the Lincoln dealers and the Lincoln Motor Co. can eliminate people’s needs to come to the dealer for almost anything.”
-Ed Witt, owner of Witt Lincoln in San Diego.

Lincoln has been testing the service at a few dealers over the past year. It surveyed customers who used it and found that 98 percent said they would be more likely to receive service from that dealer in the future and would recommend Lincoln to a friend because of it. In addition, 93 percent said they likely would purchase another Lincoln as a result. Lincoln Service Valet will be part of the vehicle’s four-year, 50,000-mile warranty coverage and available throughout the U.S.
