In the
past, Lincoln wasn’t doing very well. Lincoln basically only rebadged the Ford
vehicles with minor upgrades. But lately, with new models like the MKZ and the
brand new Continental, Lincoln has redefined itself. With the new refreshed
models, US sales have grown by 10 percent, the best growth that Lincoln has
seen in nine years.
The
icing on the cake for their rebound record year was December. Thanks to the
success of the new Continental and the brand’s newest SUVs, Lincoln ended 2016
with considerable growth and momentum for the next year. The all-new Lincoln
Continental pulled in an additional 1,845 sales in December, bringing its total
since launch to 5,261 units sold. Lincoln SUV sales were up 11.9% in 2016 as
the MKX and MKC carried the lion’s share. MKX sales were up 39.5% at a total of
30,967 units sold, and MKC sales rose 4% at 25,562 units sold for the year.
While
the sales have been impressive in the United States, in China, sales on Lincoln
have improved by three fold. Lincoln sold 32,558 cars in 2016 in China. This
growth was mainly attributed to positive reception to the brand's SUV models
and a growing number of dealerships which now stands at 65. New Lincoln models
have some of the most comfortable seats on the market as well as very roomy
back seats, both of which are very important to Chinese consumers.
